If Mann faithfully adapts Wardell's introduction to the big screen, it could end up being a horrific scene that will make your stomach curl. Crucially, Wardell is the catalyst that drags a young Hanna into a dark, obsessive rabbit hole that eventually ruins his life and shapes him into the man we know in *Heat*, while simultaneously crossing paths with McCauley’s crew. Last season saw drivers Norris and Oscar Piastri engage in a thrilling battle for the Drivers Championship, which ran its course all the way to the final race where Norris eventually picked up his first Drivers Championship. This season, however, hasn't started the way they hoped. Mercedes are currently riding high at the top of the Constructors Championship table and it's their two drivers who are in a battle of their own for the Drivers Championship. Sunday's race for McLaren was the latest episode in a disappointing season, by their high standards. With light rain falling ahead of lights out, McLaren gambled, starting both Piastri and Norris on intermediate tires. Initially, the roll of the dice looked like a masterstroke as Norris surged into the lead from third. But the joy was short-lived. The track dried rapidly, and the intermediates began to overheat, forcing Norris into the pits by the end of the second lap. From there, Norris’s afternoon spiraled. He was forced into a second pit stop to clear debris from his radiators before ultimately retiring altogether with a gearbox failure. After signing for United for £70 million in the 22/23 season, his first season was largely successful as he was influential in securing a third place finish and helping the team win the Carabao Cup. However, his second season saw him drop off massively. So what positions could United be looking at? Left back remains an area of concern despite Luke Shaw's stellar season. On track to play every game of a season for the first time in his career, the 30-year-old left back has been consistently impressive throughout the campaign. However, this has largely been down to United only playing one game a week, allowing his body to recover. With his injury history and the increase in games next season, a left back who can deputise Shaw should be a priority after the midfield reinforcements. ### **Style of play** As simple as it sounds, putting players in their right positions can really make a difference. Despite personally being a fan of Amorim (despite all of the negative records during his reign) and believing his sacking was wrong at the time, one thing that can't be defended was his stubbornness of sticking to his 3-4-2-1 formation. It was a system that forced United's best player to play in a deep position, keep the clubs most promising youngster sidelined, and an insistence of substituting a centre back every game. However, as soon as Carrick came in, he ditched the back three, brought Mainoo back into the team and moved Bruno Fernandes into his natural number 10 position. 11 wins from 16 games (at the time of writing) shows the players clearly enjoy the football their playing under Carrick, but one nitpick that has come Carrick's way is how will he establish a style of play against teams who will sit deep. For the record, I'm not a fan of the phrase 'style of play'. If a manager doesn't have a 'style of play', they are often bailed out by 'individual brilliance' according to the new age of 'tacticos' on social media. To them, style of play often refers to a team that can dominate the ball like any Pep Guardiola team, but if you look at the some of the best managers in history, their 'style of play' isn't as identifiable. Can you tell me how Carlo Ancelotti played? What about Sir Alex Ferguson? I bet if you ask any fans of those two managers (or any other iconic manager), you will likely hear a different answer from each fan, and that is how I feel about Carrick. Since taking over in January, we've seen this United team destroy opponents on the counter attack (see Mbeumo's goal against Man City in Carrick's first game or Šeško's goal versus Everton). But if you watched his Middlesbrough team, you would know Carrick likes his teams like to dominate possession. For most of the first film, he is Batman's only ally in Gotham and seeing them visit crime scenes and search for clues is something we hadn't really seen in great detail on the big screen. At the start of the movie, Bruce will take any opportunity to remind Alfred that 'he is not his father'. However, when The Riddler sends a bomb intended for Bruce to Wayne Tower, Alfred is caught in the blast and is left hospitalised. This leads to one of the film's standout scenes where an emotional Bruce opens up to Alfred and shares his fear of losing someone he cares about again. He spent all seven seasons of his NBA career with the Grizzlies. Across 309 games, Clarke averaged 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has led the tributes to Clarke, describing the Grizzlies forward as a 'leader who played the game with enormous passion'. But to categorise *FROM* as just another horror is to overlook its true power. Both are series fuelled more about 'how did the characters get here' rather than the horrors that are near them. But what really separates this show from other horror shows? ### **Mastering the mystery** In the landscape of 'mystery box' television, the greatest risk is the journey to nowhere. *FROM* avoids this trap by ensuring that every answer carries a heavy price. The small town setting functions not just as a setting, but as almost like an overarching antagonist that forces its residents to confront their own moral boundaries. Season 4 is being lauded as being the shows [best season yet](https://screenrant.com/from-season-4-review/?ref=thereaderpress.co.uk), and you can see why. The team working on *FROM* understands that the horror isn't just in the creatures that come out at night, but in the agonisingly slow realisation that the rules of the world they know are constantly being challenged. Each character knows that every action they make could lead to a fatal consequence. Fortunately for *FROM*, it doesn't suffer from this problem one bit. At the centre of this fractured community is Harold Perrineau’s Boyd Stevens. Perrineau is a *Lost* alumni so it no surprise his performance has anchored the series for four seasons. He portrays a leader who is as much a victim of the town as those he protects, but he constantly finds himself in a state of profound emotional exhaustion, living in a community that is always one incident away from breaking point. While Perrineau provides the series with its moral compass, the true strength of *FROM* lies in its diverse ensemble of actors who must constantly balance the mundane tasks of survival with the abject terror of their circumstances. In his five seasons with the Magic, which saw the team draft Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, and Paolo Banchero, who was the No.1 pick in 2022 NBA draft, Mosley had a regular season record of 189-221 and led the Magic to two division titles and three consecutive winning seasons. So instead of looking for another journalist job, I've made the leap into starting my own publication. **What to expect** The Reader is a project that combines my two biggest passions: film (and TV) and sports. Starting with film, I would consider myself a bit of a film geek. I'm the type of guy to log on to Letterboxd once I've watched a film to give it my personal rating. Personally, I love a good action film and enjoy superhero content, so you can expect a lot of coverage around that. While I am not a fan of horror, for the love of the game I will be covering the genre as there are some incredible horror films out there (which I will watch, likely with my head behind a pillow). I can't forget about the small screen too as some of the best media in recent years has been binge-worthy series. On the other side of the coin is my obsession with sports. If it’s a weekend, you’ll likely find me glued to the TV watching any football match I can find, regardless of the league or division. Despite being a 'below-average' player (and that is being generous) in my youth, I’ve always been fascinated by the tactical side of the game, so you can expect The Reader to provide fan-led analysis that looks beyond the scoreline. Then there’s basketball. Unlike my football career (if you can even call it that), I actually played the sport at a reasonably high, competitive level until my early 20s, so I do have *some* understanding of what it is like to be on the court and the preparation that goes on behind the scenes. Similar to football, I will be providing deep dives on everything happening before and after tip off. Beyond the court and the pitch, I will be covering other sports including boxing, MMA, rugby, and Formula 1, along with others.
