**Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on almost all of the Premier League charges against them.**

As reported by David Ornstein at [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7049721/2026/09/25/manchester-city-charges-verdict-premier-league/?ref=thereaderpress.co.uk), City have been found guilty on all but one of the 115 charges, according to sources briefed on the matter who spoke to the outlet anonymously.

A Manchester City spokesperson said: "The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality. As such Manchester City FC's position remains consistent with the club's statement of February 2023.

"The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League Board and Executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence."

The Premier League is yet to comment.

The sanctions have not been decided, with all possibilities remaining on the table, and City are expected to appeal, as per [the BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cr89jjwy4nqpo?ref=thereaderpress.co.uk).

They were first charged in February 2023 following a four-year investigation into alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018\.

The club was accused by the Premier League of failing to provide accurate financial information and details of payments to players and coaches, as well as breaches of UEFA’s financial fair play (FFP) regulations and the league’s own profitability and sustainability rules (PSR). The club have always denied the allegations.

City’s statement [in February 2023](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/4159396/2023/02/06/manchester-city-premier-league-finances/?ref=thereaderpress.co.uk) said the club was 'surprised' by the charges and it “welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.”

During the period of the alleged breaches, City won the Premier League three times, the FA Cup twice, the League Cup four times and the Community Shield.

### What Punishments Could Man City Face?

Because the Premier League handbook does not feature a fixed 'sanctions grid,' an independent commission can issue any penalty it deems fit under Rule W.51.

Possible sanctions include:

- Substantial monetary fines
- A major points deduction (applied immediately or retrospectively)
- Expulsion from the Premier League
- Suspension from playing league matches
- Stripping of titles or replaying past fixtures
- Cancellation or refusal of player registrations

By comparison, Everton were handed a combined eight-point deduction and Nottingham Forest four points for single PSR breaches during the 2023/24 season. However, these breaches were on a vastly smaller scale than the 114 charges City face.

With City expecting to appeal, it could be another drawn-out process before we reach an official conclusion to the alleged charges.
